Project Overview
I had to recreate an existing magazine, the magazine I chose was Sculpture Magazine. They are an essential source of information and dialogue on all forms of sculpture internationally. You can find not-to-be missed coverage of contemporary sculptural art – from features, interviews with artists, reviews of current shows and other art criticism.
Sculpture magazine has amazing content, but the content is dulled down by the design of the magazine. For this rebrand I wanted the magazine to have the same aesthetic as the bold and colorful sculptures I planned to feature. My biggest goal was to appeal to a younger audience. Their original target audience before were an older age range, and they are well known by professors. For the rebrand I felt it would give the magazine an advantage to market toward younger adults in the 18-30 year old demographic since they would just be starting out and looking for new inspiration month to month.
Logo Revision / Planning
My focus was to give Sculpture Magazine a more youthful look. Adding a variety of color, photographs, and movement throughout the spreads to draw in a younger target audience. So, for this edition I thought it was very important on who got a spot in the magazine, they had to be fun and outgoing, something that would get peoples attention. As well as giving the logo an updated look, taking it from flat, to fun and 3D reflecting the work in the magazine.
